Indigenous Voice to Parliament – Referendum Campaign Statement

Border Trust’s vision is for a generous connected resilient community that creates positive place-based change. We seek to truly see, hear and understand our community’s needs as well as it’s potential. We act with empathy and responsibility, knowing that we are all better off when everyone experiences inclusion, connection and opportunity.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their enduring connection to land, waterways and community. We pay our respects to the people and their cultures, and to the Elders past, present and emerging.

This year, we have a historic opportunity via the coming referendum to formally recognise Traditional Custodians and enshrine a Voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Constitution.

We understand:
o The vision for Voice has emerged over time and is expressed in the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
o A large majority of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people support a YES case.
Border Trust wishes to express support for the YES case in the referendum.
