Sarimah Hellyer

Sarimah has been a Director of the Border Trust since March 2019.

Sarimah currently leads the Marketing and Community Engagement team at WAW Credit Union and prior to that, was the Director of Marketing and Communication for Yooralla, preparing Victoria’s largest not-for-profit disability services organisation for transition into the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Sarimah specialises in business and brand strategy, digital marketing, community engagement and communications and works with local businesses via her own Marketing and Business Strategy Consulting business.

Sarimah grew up outside of Yackandandah and returned to the region in 2017 with her young family. “The community and the chance for my children to grow up with the experience of being part of that, was a significant part of coming home to the border region”.

Sarimah joined Border Trust to play a more active role in building capacity in the local community.  “I have a keen interest in building the Border Trust brand to a level where it is owned and embraced by the entire community; where the cyclical benefits of philanthropy in our local community are celebrated by everyone”.

A Community Foundation is an independent philanthropic organisation working in a specific geographic area which, over time, builds up a collection of endowed funds from many donors in the community. It provides services to the community and its donors, makes grants and undertakes community leadership and partnership activities to address a wide variety of needs in its service area.”
