Michael Leonhard, Director

Michael brings to Border Trust his many years of experience in both the corporate and community sectors, in positions of leadership.

A highlight of his career has been the ten years spent leading the Corryong Neighbourhood Centre. During his time in this position, Michael introduced community supports to service a remote community and built  a social enterprise to assist in jobs development and community growth.

In this time he also established the Upper Murray Innovation Foundation (UMIF) to support ideas for development and growth in the area.

Michael has a true passion for giving back to his community.

He recently relocated to Wodonga to enable him to care for his mother, and joined the Border Trust as a way to be part of the community and put his signficant community engagement skills to good use.

A Community Foundation is an independent philanthropic organisation working in a specific geographic area which, over time, builds up a collection of endowed funds from many donors in the community. It provides services to the community and its donors, makes grants and undertakes community leadership and partnership activities to address a wide variety of needs in its service area.”
