RECIPIENTS OF THE INAUGURAL  "YOUNG WOMEN LEADING CHANGE" COMMUNITY GRANTS PROGRAM ARE ANNOUNCED...

 

The successful projects for 2010 were announced on the 2nd of June 2010  at a morning tea prepared and hosted by  participants from one of the successful projects, the ‘Eat Well, Do Well’ program.

 

The "Eat  Well, Do Well" program has achieved a YWCA grant of $10,000. The program is being delivered by the Albury Wodonga Community College.

 

Other projects to receive funding were :

‘Youth Leadership’ delivered by City of Wodonga Youth Services ($2,000)

‘Girls on the Go’ program by YES Youth & Family Services, Albury ($5,000).

 

This injection of $17,000 supports a range of youth programs encouraging young women as leaders in their community and will provide lasting benefits to the participants.

 

 


2011 YWCA Grants - GRANT ROUND NOW OPEN

 

Not only did we pass on our congratulations to all concerned but we also used this event to mark the official launch the next round of funding – ‘The 2011 YWCA Young Women Leading Change’ grants -

$25,000 is available for projects commencing in 2011!! 

 

Expressions of interest for innovative projects that promote leadership by women and girls in particular but include all members of the community are invited.

 

Those which support the needs, interests and capacities of women with regard to health, housing, economic security, and personal safety are encouraged to apply. A focus on embracing cultural diversity, eliminating racism and encouraging reconciliation will be highly regarded. Community organisations in the cities and shires of Albury, Wodonga, Indigo, Alpine, Greater Hume, Corowa and Towong are encouraged to apply.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

ARE INVITED from community groups seeking to fund innovative programs aimed at life changing outcomes for women and girls in particular but including all members of the community.

Projects that promote equality in all aspects of life, work and relationships from the Albury, Wodonga, Indigo, Alpine, Greater Hume, Corowa and Towong shires are encouraged.  

All funding is provided by the Albury Wodonga YWCA and priority will be given to projects which are not currently funded or facing difficulty finding sources of funding.

 

Applicants are requested to read the "Information for Applicants" form.

 

Expression of Interest Closing Date: 4pm -Tuesday 13 July 2010.

 

Full applications Closing Date: 4pm -Tuesday 17 August 2010.

BORDER TRUST AND THE ALBURY WODONGA YWCA

An Innovative  Partnership for Young Women on the Border


Border Trust in partnership with the Albury Wodonga YWCA established the "YOUNG WOMEN LEADING CHANGE" Community Grants Program in 2009.This program will deliver projects focussed on young women of the Border region.

Taryn Hopper of Albury Wodonga YWCA states, “We are using our funds to deliver over $23,000 in grants annually over the next three years. With the assistance of Border Trust we will identify and support projects reflecting the values of the YWCA. These will focus on the leadership of young women and girls who are involved in making a difference in our local communities".

 Border Trust and Albury Wodonga YWCA Community Investment Partnership will see this significant stimulus applied over the next three years with a view to extending the arrangement on an ongoing basis. The YWCA has a special focus on working for and with young women and fostering the development of young women’s leadership.

The four priority policy areas of YWCA are housing, economic security, health and violence against women.

“Young Women Leading Change” Grants aim to support community projects that will:

-  promote and develop leadership skills of women and girls -  support women and girls across their lifespan recognising the different needs, interests and capacities of women  through different stages of their lives-  value diversity and eliminate racism-  support reconciliation among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-indigenous Australians.
