What is Border Trust?

In general terms a community foundation:

  • Receives donations, gifts and bequests from individuals and businesses in the community (money in)
  • Invests the funds to generate income (money managed)
  • Provides grants for community projects (money out).
Border Trust is the Community Foundation for the communities of Albury and Wodonga and across the Indigo, Towong, Greater Hume & Alpine Shires.   It offers a secure and direct way of improving the lives and opportunities of local people by providing funds and organisational support to significant community projects.

Why does our community need Border Trust?

In these times of rapid change and increasing uncertainty there are two areas where as individuals we can still have a strong influence. They are with our own families and in the community in which we live. When we give where we live we CAN make a difference.

Where does the money come from?

Donations come from the generosity of individuals and businesses right here in this community. With tax deductibility and gift recipient status, Border Trust ensures that what you give is distributed locally and effectively.

Border Trust directs these gifts and donations to community projects selected from applications through the community grants program, with 100% of donations received  applied to projects.

Bequests and ‘named funds’ are normally held in trust as capital, with the trustees investing these funds and distributing the interest regularly to community groups and initiatives.

Over the next few years you will see Border Trust at work - supporting people and community building initiatives locally.

We invite you to be part of this new approach to supporting many worthwhile projects and people across our region, and contributing a positive future for our community.

Your Life, Your community, Your legacy ...... forever!
