Make a Bequest
Your will and Border Trust
After provision for family and friends in your Will, you may wish to consider setting aside funding to provide financial support for local organisations or causes in which you have an interest.
In your Will you can leave a capital sum to be held in your own named commemorative account. Each year this capital will benefit your designated area of interest helping the cause to remain active in the community.
The Border Trust concept is a convenient and effective way of implementing your wishes and associating your family name with charity and your local community.
A gift forever
Often a bequest through Border Trust can be a lasting gift. This is dependent on the amount of capital contributed. Border Trust will apply your bequest to your nominated charitable causes at regular intervals.
TAX EXEMPT CHARITY
Border Trust holds Australian Taxation Office endorsement as an income tax exempt charitable fund. Gifts made through Border Trust can be tax deductible – ask us how.
CAPITAL GAINS TAX BENEFITS
Bequests through a Will to Border Trust may carry capital gains tax benefits for deceased estates where the beneficiaries have deductible gift recipient status.
BENEFITS FOR CHARITY
Charities will receive a regular income which they can plan for and anticipate in their budgets. This gives them both certainty and the confidence to focus on delivering a service.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Investment and allocation of your bequest will be monitored by the Directors of Border Trust. This Board is comprised of individuals with a degree of responsibility for our community who contribute their time and expertise free of charge.
ESTABLISHMENT AND RUNNING COSTS
There are no set up costs when you give through Border Trust. Your gift will go to work immediately, earning income for charitable causes. Where possible a minimum fund of $20,000 is recommended. This ensures that running costs are limited to a small annual administration fee in line with cost recovery.
FUND INVESTMENT
Border Trust's funds are invested to generate income. Premium interest rates are provided by Hume Building Society – a Border Trust Foundation Builder. Any undistributed interest is accumulated within the account and generates capital growth.
