SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY FOUNDATIONS INITIATIVE Border Trust has been very fortunate to attract funding from FRRR via this program which aims to increase the long term sustainability of rural and regional community foundations through projects that plan and implement strategies to build financial capacity. We are one of 15 rural and regional community foundations being provided this great challenge to work towards sustainability. Our thanks go to CEO Sylvia Admans and her team for this visionary initiative and the promise of $10,000 per annum over the next three years.
WORKPLACE GIVING Border Trust has been very fortunate to have been nominated to receive donations via workplace giving programs. Our sincere thanks to the staff at Hume Building Society and CPG Australia who have made contributions this year. This is yet another example of the power of philanthropy at work in our community.
THE ‘FOREVER YOUNG’ CHARITY BALL A wonderful effort by the Committee of the “Forever Young” Charity Ball held on Saturday 21 November . By all accounts a great night was experienced by all. I am told that the sound of heavy rain falling outside was music to the ears of the those gathered, many of whom are off the land across the Border region. Funds raised at the event were donated to Border Trust to help disadvantaged children on the Border.
HELEN LA NAUZE FUND Border Trust wishes to thank the Melbourne Community Foundation for their assistance in disbursing the residual funds from the Helen La Nauze legacy. Although the committee is no longer in operation, we thank them for their great work administering the fund on behalf of the La Nauze family and for pledging the remaining $3,500 to worthwhile projects on the Border. The two worthy recipients were the Albury Wodonga Breast Cancer Support Group and the Murray Valley Sanctuary refugee Group.
